The Enforcement Directorate (ED) today subjected two close aides of Odisha’s self-proclaimed godman Sarathi Baba alias Santosh Raula to marathon grilling in connection with the alleged illegal financial transactions of the ashram run by him.

Two Sarathi associates Pradip Sahu and Pradip Rout following summons appeared before the ED today to explain on the financial dealings of the Sarathi ashram at Barimul in Kendrapara.

While Rout used to handle the financial affairs of the ashram, Sahu used to be in-charge of the managing the affairs of the ashram.

Sources said ED officials have traced out Rs 40 lakh in deposits in three bank accounts in the name of Sahu. In addition to that ED has found out two vehicles and about 140 grams of gold in bank lockers in his name, sources added.

Sources further said that Rs 6 lakh has been transferred to Sarathi’s bank account from that of Rout.

Apart from quizzing the duo on the above, ED is learnt to have questioned them on the source of huge funds of the ashram and other properties of Sarathi other than the ashram at Barimul.
