The Enforcement Directorate (ED) today issued provisional orders for attaching properties of a junior motor vehicle inspector (MVI) amounting to Rs 2.12 crore.

The state government official Manoranjan Khatua was booked by the Vigilance department in a disproportionate assets case. The anti-corruption wing had unearthed disproportionate assets including bank deposits of Rs 7.89 lakh and insurance policies of Rs 2.04 crore in the name of Khatua and his wife.

Following this, a case was registered against Khatua. Besides, the case was referred to ED to probe into the money laundering charges. Then, he was working as the Junior MVI at Girisola check gate in Ganjam district.

Currently, Khatua is posted at the Regional Transport Office (RTO) in Puri.

The ED issued orders to attach the properties under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
