Satyam Raul, foster son of controversial self-proclaimed Odisha godman Sarathi Baba alias Santosh Raul was today grilled by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for over five hours.
Another aide of the controversial godman Pilasky Swain was also grilled by the ED.
Sources said ED officials quizzed Satyam on land and financial transactions of Satyam Trust of which he is the trustee.
“The ED officials asked me about the Trust’s financial transactions and land deals. I have replied to whatever questions were put to me,” said Satyam to reporters after coming out of the ED office here.
In a new turn of events Pilasky Swain a close of aide of Sarathi today told the media that the godman had given him Rs 20 lakh to manage the media after negative reports on him were doing rounds in the media.
“Sarathi had given me money to liason with some people in the media community at the time when negative media reports about him were doing rounds. I had introduced him to some people in the media fraternity. I have revealed their names to the police but I cannot reveal it to you,” said Swain to reporters after coming out of the ED office here.
Earlier on May 31, the ED had quizzed Sarathi Baba’s close aides Dharanidhar Mallick, Surendra Mallick, and Bijay Kumar Sahu on land related transactions of the self-proclaimed godman.
Similarly, the ED had on May 30 subjected godman’s brother Debendra Raul and aide Khagendra Rout alias Khaga to marathon grilling of five hours over financial transactions of Satyam Trust.
Sources said the ED during the interrogation of the duo had tried to ascertain if any act of money laundering had taken place with the huge amount of money that the godman had gained, the sources added.
Besides, the ED had earlier quizzed Sarathi Baba in the Choudwar circle jail.
