East Coast Railway (ECoR) today reviewed railway arrangements for the Rath Yatra in Odisha’s pilgrim city Puri scheduled on June 29.
Presiding over the review meeting, ECoR General Manager Rajeev Vishnoi asked officials of the Khurda Road Division to give utmost priority to the comfort and convenience of pilgrims coming to Puri by rail.
The meeting also discussed the safety, security and punctuality of Rath Yatra special trains. Emphasis was given on sanitation and cleanliness of station premises.
Vishnoi asked the officials to open a round-the-clock control room to look into passengers’ issues and to ensure smooth train operations.
Efforts would to be made to run special trains connecting new destinations with Puri by rail to facilitate maximum participation of the people in the festival.
The ECoR GM also underscored the need for effective announcements at station and smooth disbursal of tickets through additional ticket booking counters and facilities at other important stations.
Besides, the Railway Protection Forces (RPF) personnel were also asked to remain in the highest state of alertness all through the festival period.
Among others, senior ECoR officials and divisional railway manager of Khurda Road Division were present.
