East Coast Railway (ECoR) organised a seminar on Right to Information (RTI) at its headquarters in Odisha’s capital city on Monday at the closing ceremony of the Rajbhasa Week.
He urged the officials not to delay providing information under the RTI Act and cautioned them about offences involved in not giving information or any neglect in parting with information.
He also urged them to promote Rajbhasha in their day-to-day official works as this has been adopted as official language of the Union of India.
Prem Chandra, Mukhya Rajbhasha Adhikari and chief mechanical engineer, spoke on the importance of spreading the official language.
SK Mohanty, senior deputy general manager-cum-chief vigilance officer, said the seminar was organized as part of continued efforts by the ECoR to create awareness among the railway officials for transparent and better management of public service.
All heads of the departments of ECoR and staff were present on the occasion.
Merit certificates and awards were distributed on the occasion to meritorious employees who participated in different events in Rajbhasha.
An exhibition on use of Rajbhasha in day-to-day official work was also organised in the week-long celebration.
Various programmes and competitions in Rajbhasha, including essay competition, noting and drafting, Rajbhasha workshop and key board training were organised during the celebration.
