08492 Puri-Bhanjapur Special will leave Puri at 1945hrs on every Friday till March 25 and will reach Bhanjapur at 0300hrs on the following days. In the return direction, 08491 Bhanjapur (Baripada) Puri Special will leave Bhanjapur at 2315hrs on every Saturdays till March 26 and will arrive Puri at 0530hrs on the next days.

The Special Train has One AC-2 Tier, Two AC-3 Tiers, 08 Sleeper Class Coaches, Two Second Class Sitting Coaches and Two Guard cum Second Class Sitting Coaches having stoppages at Khurda Road, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Jajpur Keonjhar Road, Bhadrak, Soro, Balasore, Rupsa, Betonati and Baripada between Puri and Bhanjapur.

Taking into account the demands of passengers and general public, East Coast Railway was running a weekly Special Train between Puri & Bhanjapur (Baripada) from February 26, for providing comfortable journey to the commuters. Based on the public demand for comfortable mode of travel at night time to Baripada, a special effort was taken by Railways to connect Baripada with Puri linking Bhubaneswar and it was expected that this train will be popular among passengers who desire comfortable and peaceful night sleep journey.

Due to poor patronization to the extent of less than 10% average for this train from both the directions i.e. on February 26, 4th & 11th March from Puri and on February 27, 5th & 12th March from Bhanjapur (Baripada), it was decided to cancel the services of this Special Train w.e.f. 18th March-from Puri and w.e.f. 19th March from Bhanjapur.

But keeping in view the strong demands from the general public, General Manager, East Coast Railway Rajiv Vishnoi advised the concerned officials to continue the services of the Special Train up to its scheduled Time-Table as this is a special effort by Railways for the people of Baripada linking Puri & Bhubaneswar. The ticket sell for the remaining trips would now be keenly observed and future course of continuing this Special Train to Baripada would also be determined by the response to this special train.
