East Zone University Games 2014 kicks off at KIIT varsity in Odisha

The East Zone University Games 2014 kicked off at the KIIT University in the Odisha’s capital city this evening.

Nearly 2200 participants from Awadesh Pratap Singh University, Rewa; Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bihar University, Bihar; Banaras Hindhu University, Varanasi; Brahmapur University; Bhupendra Narayan Mandai University, Bihar; Bilaspur University; Calcutta University; Central University of Jharkhand, Ranchi; Dibrugarh University, Dibrugarh; Fakir Mohan University, Baleswar; Jadavpur University, Kolkata; Jai Prakash University, Bihar; KIIT University; Kolhan University, Jharkhand ; Lalit Narayn Mithila University, Darbhanga; Magadha University, Bihar; Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapitha, Varanasi; Manipur University, Chanchipur; sports KIITMATS University, Raipur, Chhatisgarh; North Eastern Hill University, Meghalaya; North Odisha University, Baripada; Odisha University of Agriculture & Technology, Bhubaneswar; Patna University, Patna, Bihar; Pt. Ravi Shankar Shukla University, Raipur; Rabindra Varati University, Kolkata, West Bengal; Ranchi University, Ranchi; Ravenshaw University Cuttack; Sambalpur University, Burla; Sarguja University, Ambikapur, Chhattisgarh; Sidho Kanho Bir Birsa University, Purulia; Siksha O Anusandhan University, Bhubaneswar; TM Bhagalpur University, Bhagalpur; Tezpur University, Assam; Tripura University, Tripura; University of Burdwan,West Bengal; University of Kalyani, West Bengal; University of North Bengal, West Bengal; Utkal University, Bhubaneswar; VBS Purvanchal University, Jaunpur; Veer Kumar Singh University, Ara, Bihar; Vidyasagar University, Midnapore, West Bengal; Vinoba Bhave University, Jharkhand and Visva Bharati, Santiniketan, West Bengal are participating in the Games.

Different events including volleyball, table tennis, chess, kabaddi and tennis will be part of Games being organised by the KIIT University in association with the Association of Indian Universities.

The participating universities have been accompanied by over 500 coaches, managers and officials.

The six-day event would conclude on October 2.

Inaugurating the event, Dr Achuyta Samanta, founder, KIIT & KISS expressed his happiness over the mega event.

Among others, Prof PP Mathur, vice chancellor, KIIT University, Dr Sasmita Samanta, registrar and Prof Jayanta Parida, director, Sports Council of Utkal University were present at the inaugural.
