The East Zone National University Games 2014 was concluded at the Odisha-based KIIT University on Wednesday here.
In Volleyball (M) Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith of Varanashi secured rank one, while VBS Purvanchal University of Jaunpur, North Odisha University, Baripada and University of Calcutta are in 2nd, 3rd and 4th ranks respectively.
In Volleyball (Women) VBS Purvanchal University placed in 1st, Ravindra Bharati 2nd, University of Burdwan 3rd and KIIT University placed in 4th rank.
Similarly, in Table Tennis (Men), Burdwan University came first, while Calcutta University, Ravindra Bharati and KIIT University were ranked 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively. In the woemen’s section University of North Bengal, Darjeeling, Jadavpur University, Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University Raipur and KIIT University were ranked 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively in the east zone inter university TT Tournament.
In Tennis (Men) University of Calcutta secured 1st rank, while the KIIT University, Sarguja, Siksha O Anusandhan University were ranked 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively.
In Chess Jadavpur University bagged the 1st position, while KIIT, Calcutta, Patna University were ranked 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively. Utkal University, Bhubaneswar bagged the top position in Kabaddi, while L N Mithila Universtiy of Darbhanga, Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith and KIIT were placed in 2nd, 3rd and 4th position respectively.
The National University Kabaddi Tournament has been scheduled to be held at KIIT.
In the valedictory ceremony, Dr. Sasmita Samanta, Registrar, KIIT University, Abhimanyu Singh, Representative, AIU; Sekhar Ghose and Sekhar Chandra Sahoo, President, AOCA were present and distributed prizes to successful teams.
On this Occasion 7th KIIT Cup Chess Tournament was declared open.
