Bhubaneswar, May 2:

Odisha ‘Arthika Sanstha Mananka Dwara Kshyatigrastanka Milita Mancha’ (ASMDKMM), the apex body of investors in the state cheated by chit companies, today demanded that the state government should immediately begin a tehsil wise survey to identify investors who lost money in the mega scam.

The Mancha advisor Soumya Ranjan Patnaik also demanded amendments to faulty financial bills and termed the cabinet decision on refund of money to duped small investors of chit fund scam “a drama”.

“We welcome the amendments to bills that are favourable. The main point here is: the amendments are being carried out to help the duped small investors. But does the government even know the investors it wants to help?  Have they identified how many of them are there and how much money is required to compensate them? They really don’t know about it yet. Instead of addressing the main concern, the government is trying out many things to divert attention,” said Patnaik.

“If the government announces that it is going to initiate an identification process and sets a timeframe of say 15 days or a month to complete the job, it would be more crediblee. But the government doesn’t want to do it. Patra Commission was formed so that affidavits could be submitted in order to assess the volume of the scam and to find ways to prevent it in the future. That was not meant for identification. But the government formed a commission and a corpus fund and thinks its job is over. This is nothing but an attempt to hoodwink the investors,” he added.

It may be mentioned that ASMDKMM will organize a mega-rally in Bhubaneswar on June 10 to protest against the faulty bills of the state government and demand swifter identification of the small investors.
