Panic gripped the steel city Rourkela in Odisha’s Sundargarh district following the brutal murder of two persons including a woman whose bodie were found inside a garage in Hanuman Vatika area under Raghunathpali police station limits this morning.
While identity of the deceased woman of around 42 years has been established, the body of the youth has been identified as Habil Toppo (35) of Khariapada basti in the city.
According to police, the incident took place in the wee hours.
“The deceased woman was staying inside the garage with her husband. The whereabouts of the husband is not known. We are not sure whether he has committed the crime or he has been murdered,” said Ishwar Chandra Dora, IIC of Raghunathpali police station.
Meanwhile, the police and a scientific team have rushed to the spot and started investigation. Police have seized a blood stained stick. Preliminary investigation has revealed that the duo was murdered with a sharp weapon after being thrashed with the stick.
Police have suspected the hand of the garage owner as he failed to name the woman and his husband who were staying in his garage.
On the other hand, the family members of Toppo said as he was working as a driver, he had contact with the garage owner.
However, they could not say about the reason of his murder.
