The Election Commission has asked all political parties not to announce financial assistance during the elections since it violates the model code of conduct.
The EC referred to sub paras (v) and (vi) of Para Vll of the Model Code of Conduct which states that “Ministers and other authorities shall not sanction grants/payments out of discretionary funds from the time elections are announced by the Commission” and “Ministers and other authorities shall not announce any financial grants in any form or promises thereof.”
The Commission has also asked the parties not to deliver any inflammatory speeches against a particular community and indulge in hate speeches against any candidates.
