Odisha Government will start the process of distributing free laptops to 15,203 meritorious Plus Two students of the 2014 batch with Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik kick-starting the programme from Brahmapur on August 12.
As per information provided by the Higher Education Department of Odisha Government, 50 students would receive their laptops from the Chief Minister and other dignitaries on the occasion. The final list of the students has been prepared and invitation cards have also been sent for the ceremony, the sources said.
The rest of the students would receive their laptops from the nodal centers opened in all 30 districts of the state to carry out the activity. A three-member monitoring committee has already been formed for each of these nodal centers.
Laptops would be sent to these nodal centers in two phases with 5000 laptops to be distributed in the first phase and 10,203 more in the second phase.
The IT Department of Odisha Government has already given 5000 laptops to OCAC authorities for inspection. OCAC will complete the job within the next 2-3 days and then the laptops would be sent to the nodal centers for distribution to the meritorious students on August 12, the sources said.
For the second phase of the laptop distribution programme, OCAC would be given the 10,203 laptops by August 10 and they would be forwarded to the nodal center after inspection by August 15.
The Government plans to complete the entire distribution process by end of August.
