Digital Media can help market Odisha, globally,says Odisha IT Secretary

“Digital Media has become the buzz word in today’s global market. Be it IT or any other product or idea, digital media is going to help us market them globally. Even, we should look forward to market Brand Odisha in a big way through this medium”, said Sanjeeb Kumar Mishra, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, IT Dept., Govt. of Odisha.

Mishra made the observation while inaugurating ‘Digital Marketing – the New Wave’, a seminar organised by ‘Confederation of Information Technology Enterprises’ (CITE), Odisha, in association with NASSCOM and OCAC.

Speaking on the occasion Mishra said IT has created huge potential in terms of knowledge and growth. He invited the attention of global investors to look at the state as a suitable destination.

He advised young IT professionals to come up with ideas and products to harness the potential in the field of IT. “Our Govt. is very keen to support all such investors and entrepreneurs “, he said.

“Looking at our geographical location, IT Policy and the vision of the government, Odisha can be considered one of the most preferred IT destinations today. It might not be wrong if we dream to be the silicon valley of the East in the future”, said the IT secretary while spelling out the vision of his department

Dr. Bijoy Kumar Sahoo, President, CITE, welcomed the guests and delegates to the event. On behalf of the organisation and the industry he expressed gratitude to the state government, especially OCAC, for supporting such awareness programmes.

He said CITE is committed to conduct such awareness programmes, on a regular interval, with the help of the IT department and the industry fraternity. While thanking NASSCOM for their support Dr. Sahoo invited them to hold some of their flagship events in Odisha in the future.

Mr. Nirupam Chaudhuri, Regional Head – East, National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM), highlighted the advantages involved in using Digital Media Tools and Technology for marketing of products and services. He also spoke on different activities undertaken by NASSCOM and appreciated the programmes being conducted by CITE in the area of IT and ITES in Odisha.

Kamal Agarwal, Chairman, ERPC, NASSCOM, talked about the forthcoming NASSCOM Product Conclave 2014, the flagship event that is going to be held in Kolkata on 17-18 July.

CITE’s Digital Marketing seminar witnessed a galaxy of IT entrepreneurs and professionals from Odisha and outside. While Arun Agarwal, CMD, Ebiz India, moderated the workshop on ‘Digital Marketing – the New Wave’, Abhishek Rungta, Founder and CEO, Indus Net Technologies; Surojit Sen, Director, Digital JWT and Dwarika Prasad Tripathy, CTO, AuroIN (India) participated as the panellists.

Many young professionals, CEOs and CTOs of companies and industry stalwarts participated in the event. They included Manoj Panda, Head, TCS Bhubaneswar centre; Ayashkant Mohanty, MD, Tatwa Technologies; Aditya Mohapatra, OSD, OCAC; Manoranjan Mohapatra, MD, Suyog Computech; Prof. Ashok Panda; College of IT and Management Education and Saswat Kumar Patra, Business-in-Charge, E-Square Solutions.

Confederation of Information Technology Enterprises (CITE), Odisha is an amalgamation of IT companies to create and sustain an environment conducive to the IT development in Odisha. It also aims to encourage and promote IT entrepreneurship in the State.
