Union Minister for Oil and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan today discussed transport related problems in Odisha’s coal belt with the Power, Coal and New & Renewable Energy minister Piyush Goyal in New Delhi.
During the discussion, Pradhan apprised Power and Coal minister Goyal of the problems faced by coal transporters in Odisha’s mineral rich belt of Talcher, Sundergarh and Brajrajnagar, said an official release.
“A large number trucks and trolleys operate in these areas, which are engaged in the transportation and evacuation of minerals in the region. These operations are mostly owned by the project affected people who have been displaced due to operations of the Public Sector Units”, Pradhan told Goyal.
Minister Pradhan told Goyal that the transporters are facing lot of hardships as their problems are not being sorted out by appropriate authorities.
Goyal assured Pradhan that he would look into the issues concerning the transporters engaged in evacuation and transportation of coal in Odisha.
