Dhamra Port felicitates veteran sea fishermen

Dhamra Port felicitated four veteran sea fishermen of Bhadrak district in Odisha on the occasion of 51st Maritime Week celebrated here.

51st National Maritime week celebrated by DPCL

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Dhamra Port Company Limited ( DPCL) Santosh Kumar Mohapatra and chief operating officer (COO) Subrat Tripathy felicitated Laxman Mallick (80) and Ratikanta Mallick (75) from Chudamani area who were engaged in fishing for nearly 60 years.

Besides, Debendra Das (65) and Susanta Patra (67) of Chandinipal area near Dhamra were also felicitated on the occasion.

The fishermen narrated their experience and the challenges they faced while fishing in the deep sea for livelihood.

Dhamra Port also organised a number of competitions among the port employees and local school children during the week-long celebrations that concluded on Saturday..

The Port organized rallies involving the local youths to spread the message of maritime week celebrations among the community.

A face and body painting competition was organized wherein some of the port employees painted their face and body with different colours to spread a message on environment protection.

Besides, a cricket tournament was organized by port in which 32 teams representing various departments and organizations of the port participated.

The team of Rameshwar Technocon Private Ltd, engaged in the Dhamra Port railway maintenance, won the tournament title.
