Cuttack, Feb 12:
The notorious criminal duo Sushil and Sushant Dhal Samant eliminated their henchmen–Deepak Mallick alias Dipu and Om Prakash Swain alias Om– and disposed of their bodies in Jharkhand, a top Odisha police official said today.
Briefing media persons here at the DCP office, Twin City Commissioner YB Khurania today unfolded the mystery behind the disappearance of Deepak Mallick alias Dipu and Om Swain in 2013.
“Dipu and Om were taken to a farm house in Athagarh where they were beaten to death by Dhal Samant brothers and seven of their associates. After eliminating them, they were stashed in gunny bags and taken to Jharkhand to dispose of their bodies. The deceased were burnt after pouring petrol at Barajamda under Gua police station limits in West Singhbhum district. Later, their bodies, which were burnt over 70%-80%, were dumped,” Twin City Commissioner YB Khurania said.
The deceased duo worked as sharpshooters for Dhal Samant brothers before falling apart with the latter.
“The Dhal Samant brothers decided to eliminate them as they realised that they had gone out of their control and were growing in prominence in the crime world,” Khurania added.
It may be mentioned that a team of Commissionerate police had gone to Jharkhand along with one of the Dhal Samant brothers to investigate into the matter.
The Jharkhand police had registered a case and begun investigation after two charred bodies beyond recognition were found.
The case was closed after one year of investigation.
