Dev Commissioner on a 3-day visit to Odisha’s Malkangiri

A three-member team headed by Development commissioner Upendranath Behera today visited Odisha’s Malkangiri district to review various government schemes in the Left Wing Extremism (LWE)-hit areas.

The team is visiting the district and will review the development projects launched by the government. Besides, the team will meet and discuss issues with the district officials also.

Notably, this is first trip by Behera to the backward district after taking special charge of Malkangiri.

In recent development to accelerate development work in Left Wing Extremism (LWE) affected backward districts of Nuapada, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur and Kandhamal, the Odisha government has appointed four senior IAS officers with special responsibilities of these districts.

While Ashok Tripathy is in charge of Nuapada district, Upendranath Behera is responsibile for Malkangiri district, R Balakrishna got Nabarangpur district and Aditya Prasad Padhi will look after Kandhamal district.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will review the progress of developmental work in these districts every month.
