The local Met office today predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall at some places in interior Odisha in the next 24 hours.
In a release, the Regional Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, said yesterday’s depression which lay about 110 km from Sambalpur, weakened into a well-marked low pressure area today and now lies over interior Odisha and adjoining Chattisgarh and Jharkhand.
Under its influence, rain or thundershower would occur at most places over North Odisha and many places over South Odisha during next 24 hours .
Besides, heavy to very heavy rainfall would occur at one or two places over interior Odisha during the period, the release added.
The Met department has advised the fishermen not to venture into the sea as strong gusty surface wind from the south-westerly direction with speed reaching 45-50 kmph and gusting up to 60 kmph would prevail along and off the Odisha coast.
