The depression that lay over South Odisha this morning, moved northwest and lay centered over North Odisha near latitude 20.50N and longitude 84.50E, about 110 km southeast of Sambalpur at 5.30 pm. The system would move northwest and weaken gradually into a well-marked low pressure area during next 24 hours.
Under its influence, rain or thundershower would occur at most places over Odisha with heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places over interior Odisha and heavy rainfall at one or two places over coastal Odisha during next 24 hours, a Met release said tonight.
The Met department has advised the local fishermen not to venture into the sea as strong and squally surface wind from the southeast direction in North Odisha and from southwest direction in South Odisha coast with speed reaching 45-50 kmph gusting 60 kmph would prevail along and off the state coast.
