With first case of dengue in Odisha surfacing in Cuttack on Monday, three more patients have been identified with the killer disease in the millennium city.
While one DK Basu of Madhusudan Nagar of Tulasipur is now undergoing treatment in a private hospital, two other patients are now under treatment at a private nursing home at Jagatpur. A fourth patient has been admitted to the dengue ward at SCB Medical College and Hospital here, reports said.
Of the two patients being treated at Jagatpur, one belongs to Bari in Jajpur district and the other person belongs to Nirgundi area on the outskirts of Cuttack.
One Ranjita Das of Bari area had come to SCB Medical College and Hospital a week ago in a critical condition. Though she was identified with dengue positive, she could not be admitted to the ICU as there was no vacant bed in the unit.
Later, the doctors at the hospital asked the family members to admit her to a private nursing home at Jagatpur.
Sujit Mallick from Nirgundi area was also admitted to the same private nursing home yesterday after he was detected with dengue positive during his blood test.
Another patient Anubhav Pandey from Thoria Sahi in the city has been admitted to the dengue ward in the SCB Hospital since July 18.
According to Cuttack CDMO, the exact number of dengue patients has not been ascertained as the SCB authorities have not provided details on the number of patients admitted to the hospital.
