Cuttack: At a time when the Health Department officials of Odisha are on their toes to contain swine flu outbreak which has so far killed three persons, another viral disease – – dengue – – reared its ugly head again as the State recorded first dengue death today.
The deceased has been identified as Som Prakash Mishra, a native of Bihar but had been staying at Paradip for the last few years.
Sources said Mishra was admitted to the central ICU of SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack on Tuesday with high fever but was succumbed at around 3.30 am today.
Hospital sources said around 13 dengue patients are now undergoing treatment while two are being treated in the central ICU.
As many as 242 dengue patients have been identified since March this year, hospital sources added.
