Cuttack, July 29:
A dengue patient in Odisha died at the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack on Monday afternoon.
The deceased has been identified as Gangadhar Sethi (40) of Benupur village in Jagatsinghpur district.
According to reports, Sethi was admitted to the Medicine ward of the hospital on July 20. He was taken to the ICU ward five days ago after his condition deteriorated further.
This is the first dengue related death case in a government hospital in the state this year.
Meanwhile, three more patients were tested dengue positive on Monday. They are Sumanta Sahu from Jajpur, Bharati Pradhan from Jagatpur area of Cuttack city and Prasant Das from Bhadrak.
Sources in the SCB hospital said out of a total of 548 blood sample test, 34 have been detected dengue positive till July 28.
This year, nine patients from Jajpur district and six from Cuttack districts have been found to have been dengue positive at the SCB hospital while there have been more number of cases reported from Bhadrak, Keonjhar and Jagatsinghpur districts.
Presently, 10 dengue patients have been admitted to thedengue ward at the SCB Medical College and Hospital.
