Delhi-based Odisha scribe honoured with Rashtriya Gourab Samman

New Delhi, Sept 1:

The president of the Delhi Odisha Journalists’Association and noted journalist Kishore Dwibedi has been honoured with the Rashtriya Gourab Samman-2014 , a national award instituted by Shri Jagannath Sanskuti Surakshya Bahini (SJSSB) for individuals towards their significant contributions to the protection and promotion of Jagannath culture.

Dwibedi received the award from the Union Minister For Petroleum And Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan in the presence Of the vice-chancellor of the Tirupati Central Sanskrit University and national president of the Shri Jagannath Sanskruti Surakshya Bahini Dr Harekrushna Satpathy at a formal function held in the premises of the Jagannath temple at Hauz Khas here on Sunday evening.

Former Congress MP Ananta Sethy and Odisha BJP secretary Bhrigu Buxipatra were the other honoured guests of the evening.

Among the other receipients of the Rastrya Gourab Samman this year were Bhagaban Suar, member of the Shri Jagannath Temple Management Committee, Puri, Bipin Mishra, president of the Mumbai Odia Association, Krushna Chandra Panda and Shrimant Dash.

The chief guest, Union minister Pradhan and Prof Dr Satpathy spoke on the great need to spread the messages of universal brotherhood and peace that is central to Jagannath culture.

While Prof Sataynarayan Acharya presided over the meeting, the secretary of the SJSSB Sabyasachi Rath prseneted the annual report of the organisation and welcomes the guests and awardees. The co-ordinator of the Utkal Peeth unit at Tirupati Central Sanskrit University Radhagobind Tripathy, additional co-ordinator Dr Gyanaranjan Panda, Dr Swetapadma Satpathy, Ramachandra Mekap, joint secretary of the SJSSB and Umakant Behera were the chief organisers of the get-together and the formal function

The function, a grand union of devotees and ambassadors of the Jagannath culture, began with the chantings of Veda hymns by Dr Niranjan Mishra and unveiling of sand sculpture on Lord Jagannath by Nikunja.

Prof Bhagirath Nanda offered the vote of thanks.
