Two executives of Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) were suspended on Saturday for alleged negligence that led to death of a 25-year-old manager in an accident in RSP premises on Friday morning.
RK Parida, DGM (Electrical) and B Tigga, Manager (Department Safety Officer) were suspended on the basis of the report of a high level committee constituted by the plant authorities to probe the circumstances under which S Raunaq (25), Junior Manager, Hot Strip Mill Operation, died yesterday, a senior RSP official told OST.
Raunaq, who was on duty in the ‘A’ shift on Friday, dies after a slab being transported with the help of a magnetic crane for placement on the Roller Table fell on him at about 9 am yesterday.
He was rushed to Ispat General Hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.
A bachelor and a native of Hyderabad, Raunaq had joined as a Management Trainee (Technical) in RSP in March 2013. He was residing in E-37, Sector -5, Rourkela Steel Township.
