Bhubaneswar, Sep 2:
There is good more good news for technically qualified job aspirants in Odisha. The committee constituted to oversee the four-day special recruitment drive at Kalinga stadium beginning from September 17 is mulling an extension of the deadline for registration by another two-three days to attract more students.
The revelation comes a day after the state government decided to allow candidates from all engineering and technical colleges and universities in the state to participate in the job fair. The earlier decision had restricted the participation only to students passing out from colleges affiliated to the Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT).
As per the original schedule decided by the Employment and Technical Education and Training (ET&T) department, the registration of aspiring candidates was to close on September 10. But in view of the tremendous demand that the announcement has generated, the authorities are now contemplating an extension of the deadline.
“We are watching the registration process from the beginning.Going by the trend so far, it seems the students are very excited to participate in the job fair. If students continue thronging the website to register their names to participate in the recruitment drive, we may extend the last date of registration by two-three days more,” said Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT) vice-chancellor Prof J K Satpathy, who heads the committee formed to look after the job fair.
Satpathy, however, clarified that the proposal for any extension would be decided only after taking all members of the committee into confidence. The committee will meet after three-four days, he said.
A committee has been constituted under the chairmanship of the BPUT VC with representatives from Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE) and the Directorate of Technical Education and Training (DTET) as members to finalise the modalities for the fair.
Only B Tech, M Tech, MCA, MBA and Pharmacy graduates can participate in the job fair. According to sources, the first two days of the drive will be earmarked for B Tech, M Tech and MCA pass outs. MBA degree holders will take part on the third day on September 19 while the last day will be reserved for placement of pharmacy graduates.
Passed out students can register their names and other details by clicking the link http://cpcdtet.nic.in/Nijukti.aspx.
About 300 companies are expected to participate in the job fair and recruit eligible candidates for their companies.
