Daylight robbery in Odisha capital; goods worth Rs 4 lakh looted

Three unidentified armed robbers struck at the house of a KIIT University professor in Sailashree Vihar area under Chandrasekhapur police limits and decamped with valuables worth over Rs 4 lakhs in broad daylight today.

At around 12.30 PM, three unmasked miscreants knocked on the door of KC Singh, who is working with KIIT University, while he was in office. When his wife Jyotsna Rani opened the door, the trio forced their way into the house and held her at gun point.

The assailants allegedly looted around 100 grams of gold, 300 grams of silver, Rs 3000, a mobile phone and a laptop after breaking open the almirah.

Following the incident, KC Singh lodged a complaint with the Chandrasekharpur police station.

According to the complainant, the armed robbers entered his house (plot number-VIM-113) at Sailashree Vihar and decamped with valuables worth over Rs 4 lakh. “These three unmasked men, in the age group of 25-30, tied the hands and legs of my wife before fleeing the spot,” Singh said.

The neighbours came to know about the incident after she raised an alarm.

Meanwhile, forensic experts and dog squad of the Commissionerate police have reached the spot and have begun investigation into the case.
