Bhubaneswar, May 9:
Accusing a section of the media of ‘blowing up’ the visit of Odisha Health minister Dr Damodar Rout to a Delhi hospital recently, his daughter Pritinanda Routray today claimed that it was a routine check-up.
Maintaining that it was a ‘normal’ ailment, Routray said there was nothing to attract “news headlines or Breaking News on television channels.”
It may be noted that some newspapers and television channels had reported two days ago that Dr Rout had gone to New Delhi for a kidney surgery.
“Any sensible person should do periodical health check-ups after a certain age. My father also does the same. It is not right to blow up such small things,” she said.
Going a step further, the corporator from Ward No 6 of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) surmised that some ‘vested interests’ were trying to create an impression that Dr Rout would just fade away from active politics.
“All parties would admit that, Dr. Rout has been a prominent milestone in Odisha’s political scenario. If some people are trying to damage him by creating such maneuvered rumours, then they will not succeed in doing so,” Routray said ‘strongly’ condemning such an attempt..
