Bhubaneswar, Dec 30:
Health minister and BJD vice-president Dr Damodar Rout who, like Digvijay Singh of the Congress, has a penchant for courting controversy, created a flutter on Monday when he accused Union Rural Development minister Jairam Ramesh of peddling ‘half-truths’.
Reacting to Ramesh’s letter to chief minister Naveen Patnaik on the bonded labour problem in Odisha, Rout said Jairam’s observation on the problem of bonded labourers was based on half truths.
He said most of the workers from Kalahandi and Balangir leaving for other states were not dadan labourers but job seekers seeking higher wages for their specialized skills like brick making on contract basis. They are not ordinary labourers seeking earth work etc, he said.
