With the cyclonic storm Hudhud making a landfall in north Andhra Pradesh in the pre-noon hours today, the Energy department of Odisha has issued helpline numbers to help the affected people under Southern Electricity Supply Company of Odisha Ltd (Southco) and Central Electricity Supply Utility (CESU) and to seek information from affected areas about the damage caused by the cyclone.
In a notification, the department has issued two helpline numbers each for Southco and CESU consumers.

The department has engaged 1500 Southco and CESU employees for restoration work during the cyclone.
In a statement to the media, principal secretary, Energy, Suresh Mohapatra said the department has decided to disconnect power if the wind speed exceeded 20-30 kmph for the safety of the people.
He also cautioned the people not to touch any snapped electric wire.
