Vigilance officials today detected over a crore of assets possessed by a sarpanch in Odisha’s Bhadrak district.


Acting on complaints of possessing disproportionate assets, the sleuths from Balasore Vigilance Division raided three places including the office and residence of the sarpanch of Rahanja Gram Panchayat under Bhadrak Block in the district.

The cops conducted simultaneous raids on his residential double storied building at Rahanja, Gram Panchayat Office at Rahanja and his father-in-law’s house at Barapur under Khaira police limits in Balasore district.

The officials detected movable and immovable assets worth crores from the possession of sarpanch Rabindra Sahoo and his family members.

The sleuths valued the double stories building at Rs 47, 75, 450, two tippers at Rs 60, 80, 000, a truck at Rs 12, 00, 000, a Scorpio at Rs 11, 50, 000, a two wheeler at Rs 45, 000, gold ornaments at Rs 50, 000, and bank deposits at Rs 2, 00, 000.
