Cuttack, Sep 7:
The Odisha Crime Branch police is likely to appeal to the court to take Sura Baba alias Surendra Mishra, the self-styled godman and head of Trahi Achyuta ashram at Jhiinti, and his two sons—Trilochan and Biranchi—on a fresh remand for further interrogation.
The trio will be produced in the court of Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) this afternoon at the end of their second round of police remand today.
Meanwhile, Crime Branch sleuths began interrogation of Sura Baba and his two sons at their headquarters office here this morning.
Sources said the interrogation is currently focused on the alleged Income Tax evasion charges against Sura Baba. Crime Branch officials have called up his Chartered Accountant, who will be interrogated in the presence of the Baba.
Crime Branch officials are also focussing on the ashram of Sura Baba in Nepal, where he is alleged to have acquired land and set up an ashram.
Besides, the Crime Branch officials are now probing the links of the Jhiinti Trahi Achyuta ashram with its branches at Samastipur and Bhagalpur in Bihar.
It may be mentioned that Bihar police had arrested two dreaded history-sheeters involved in murder and other serious crimes staying in Jhiinti Ashram for 17 years on August 18 this year.
Besides, the state investigating agency has also summoned a few staff of Trahi Achyuta ashram for interrogation.
Meanwhile, the two-member Crime Branch team arrived in Mumbai this morning to probe into the allegation of land fraud against Sura Baba, who has set up an ashram about 10 km from Borivli in Mumbai.
