Surendra Mishra and his two sons – Trilochan and Biranchi Narayan – were brought from Cuttack where they were being interrogated for the last three days and presented in the Bhubaneswar JMFC court earlier in the day after the expiry of his earlier remand.

Crime Branches sources hinted at the need for further questioning of the trio in order to unravel their involvement in land grab, threatening, sexual exploitation and murder allegations brought against them. It will pay special attention to the financial irregularities, tax evasion and the money trail left behind by the tainted godman.

Meanwhile, the treasure hunt at Sura Baba ashram continues. A day after stacks of currency notes of Rs 1, 000 denomination stuffed into gunny bags were recovered by the agency, large amounts of cash, a gold crown, jewellery and another locker were seized from Trahi Achutya Ashram near Bhubaneswar today.

The five-member raiding team of crime branch seized large amounts of cash from the Radha Krushna temple of the Jhiinti based Trahi Achyuta Ashram. They also managed to seize gold from the Shakti temple and a locker and more cash from the Laxmi temple inside the ashram premises.

It may be noted that a Crime Branch team dispatched to the Trahi Achyuta ashram at Jhinti Sasan yesterday led by IG Arun Bothra had seized seven accounts in the name of the Baba, his wife, two sons and their wives and the Ttrahi Achyuta Trust totalling deposits of Rs 2.40 crore, ADG Bijay Kumar Sharma  had said.

The probe agency had traced the bank deposit details and cash amounting to nearly Rs 2.40 crore and Rs 25 lakh respectively from the ashram yesterday based on the information ferreted out by the trio—Surendranath Mishra, Trilochan and Biranchi Narayan during the course of interrogation.
