Hundreds of supporters of the two outfits, holding party flags, banners and shouting anti-government slogans slammed the Centre for its negligence towards Odisha state in allocation of funds in the Railway sector, which they said is much less this time.

Workers of the CPI led by national body member Ramakrushna Panda came in a procession from the party office to railway station and staged rail roko stopping the Rajdhani Express for an hour demanding more allocation for the State in the Railway Budget.

Samajwadi Party workers, led by party’s State president Rabi Behera, also staged rail roko in the railway station protesting FDI in Railway which they said would lead to privatisation of the largest public sector firm in the country.

They also staged demonstration in front of the railway station demanding more allocation for Odisha in the next railway budget for completion of several important railway projects like Khordha-Balangir and Paradip-Haridaspur.
