Contractor held for supplying explosives to Maoists

A contractor, arrested by the police on Tuesday on the charge of supplying explosives to the Maoists, was forwarded to the court on Wednesday.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of Kalimela police arrested the contractor Samarendra Bisoi(28) from MPV-31 village and later seized that explosives that he had hidden under the earth inside Marigeta forest under Badigeta panchayat.

“The accused, during interrogation has confessed to his crime”, Malkangiri SP Akhileswar Singh told the media persons here.

Samarendra Bisoi alias Tinku was arrested after fifteen gelatine sticks and other explosives were found at his construction site in Marigata village.

“He confessed that he had supplied explosives to the rebels five times in the past. The latest explosives were found from a site where he is building a school hostel,” Inspector-in-Charge S.K. Nayak told IANS.
