Bhubaneswar, May 6:

Congress today moved a privilege notice against Odisha Law Minister Arun Sahoo for presenting misleading facts in the Assembly.

Citing Sahoo’s earlier remark on Leader of Opposition (LOP) Narasingha Mishra offering apology twice before, the notice stated that the LOP never apologised.

It further wanted the issue to be taken up by a revised committee, as Sahoo is a member of the current privilege committee.

Briefing reporters outside the Assembly, Congress Chief Whip Tara Prasad Bahinipati said, “Based on media reports, I had taken up the issues of alleged misbehaviour of a girl and the Commissionerate Police notice. As a responsible member of the house and leader of the party, Mishra had regretted wasting the time of the house after the reports turned out to be untrue. He never apologised. There is a difference between saying sorry and apologising. The Minister has lied in the House”.
