With the 2014 elections barely a few months away, the Odisha Congress has decided to strengthen its base at the grassroots level by organizing training camps at the revenue division level.

“We will hold training programmes in Berhampur, Sambalpur and Cuttack on August 10, 24 and 25 respectively, where senior leaders of the party, including invitees from central leadership,p will train party workers to highlight the flagship programmes of UPA-I and II while drawing people’s attention to the misdeeds of BJD led Odisha government,’ PCC President Jayadev Jena said at a press conference here today.

Jena said experts from the Central leadership will be invited to discuss the food security ordinance, which will immensely help the people of the State in the coming days.

Meanwhile, the preparatory meeting for Berhampur camp to be held on August 10 has been completed.

With elections to urban bodies approaching, the Congress party has decided to depute observers in all 33 organisational districts to finalise candidates. The candidates will be finalized by a committee constituted by local MPs, MLAs, ex-MPs and MLAs, Congress president at urban local body level and chiefs of different organizations of the party. “Candidates will be finalized soon,” said Jena.
