Complete shutdown in Puri over attack on minister

Odisha Sun Times Bureau
Puri, Feb 25:

Shops and commercial establishment in this international pilgrim town remained closed today in response to a shut down call given by the Puri Byabsayee Sangh (traders’ organisation) to protest against the murderous assault on local MLA and Law and Culture minister Maheswar Mohanty.
Maheswar Mohanty
Gajanan Agarwal, an office bearer of the traders’ body, told reporters that not a single shop in the holy city was open and its own members had found it difficult to even get gutkhas and paans.

The traders’ body today took out a procession from Singhadwara (Lions gate) of the Shri Jagannath temple to protest against the attack on Mohanty and to demand immediate arrest of the culprits.

The pilgrim town the shut down has put tourists and visitors
in great trouble as even eating joints remained closed.

  1. It is a farce and an act of arrogance, this shut down is not a good sign, think about a Vegetable vendor, Rickshaws puller or Teal stall owner, they have to feed their family from their hard earning and for this every day they have to work and these are people who will suffer from this shut down and I do not think the Honourable Law Minister will support this act of these jokers.
