Trouble increased for scamster Prabhas Rout-chief of Ponzi firm Oscar Group of Companies as about 15 depositors from Maharashtra lodged their complaints against him with the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Odisha Crime Branch here today.
These depositors who lodged complaints with the EOW and recorded their statements also submitted documents in support of their claim. They said that the Group had opened offices in around six places in Maharashtra and had duped depositors to the tune of Rs 15 crore.
They claimed that they had participated in a programme organized by the Group in Gujarat wherein Ollywood actors Uttam Mohanty, Pappu Pom Pom, Kajal Mishra and Archita had allegedly endorsed the company to invest in it.
“Actor Pappu Pom Pom had asked us to invest in Oscar Group. He had told us that our investment will be safe and secure in it. Archita had also told us to put our money in it,” said Pravati Swain, a depositor, who had come all the way from Maharashtra to lodge her complaint against Oscar Group with the EOW here.

Uttam Mohanty said: “I am ready to accept any kind of punishment if they can show evidence that I had told them to invest in Oscar Group. They should first verify facts then make allegations.”
On the other hand, a team of the Crime Branch is in Surat in Gujarat to investigate frauds committed by the Oscar Group.
The Group has allegedly duped depositors to the tune of Rs 100 crore from 2013 to 2015 in Gujarat alone.
