SOA Radio Javadekar

Odisha Sun Times Bureau
Bhubaneswar, July 5:

The Centre wants that the Community Radio should become a strong medium to reform the society, Union minister for Information and Broadcasting Prakash Javadekar said.

Speaking to the Voice of SOA Community, the community radio run by the SOA University, he said this medium was meant to become a movement and one of the ways to reform the society, promote local cultures and encourage the spread of scientific thinking.

“I am happy that the SOA University is successfully running the Community Radio station,” he said, adding this medium should be used to fight the evil in society and ensure improvement in the life of the people.

Javadekar, who was in the city for a day’s visit, spoke to Voice of SOA Community Director Rusi Patnaik.

  1. I’m sure Mr. Javadekar knows that Greenpeace India is one of the organizations mentioned in the recently ‘leaked’ (!!?) IB report as being anti-development, foreign funded, etc. What he might not know is that for over a year now, Greenpeace has been using community radio powered by mobile technology to bring stories of tribals living in Mahan forest block, Madhya Pradesh to the fore. Please check out http://www.radiosangharsh.org to hear some of these stories. I suppose this is anti-national activity?
