On its foundation day today, twin city Commissionerate Police of Odisha aimed at containing the ever spiraling cases of cyber crime in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.
Besides, its top brass laid emphasis on safety and security of women and senior citizens in 2016 as it stepped into the ninth year.
“Commissionerate Police has been a successful system and it has proved that in the past eight years of its existence. Crimes happen, but we have by and large successfully contained the numbers of such incidents. The challenges, however, are many. We have reviewed our capabilities and identified the areas of opportunity where we need to work,” said Police Commissioner Rajendra Prasad Sharma.
“Containing cyber crime is one of our top priorities. There has also been a rise in petty crimes and crimes committed by migrant population. We still have to step up our efforts to rein in such activities,” he added.
Notably, the Commissionerate Police had started operation on January 1, 2008.
