Phulbani, Nov 14:
An intense cold wave gripped Phulbani district as the night temperature dipped to 8.2 degree Celsius on Wednesday.
Although there is no official data on the minimum temperature in Daringibadi, known to be the coldest place in Odisha, local reports said the mercury levels have dipped to below 5 degree Celcius.
The prevalence of dense fog during the day as well as night has also affected road traffic across the district due to very poor visibility, sources said.
The Bhubaneswar Met office has predicted that the temperature level in most parts of the state which came down by 3-4 degree Celsius on Tuesday, would dip further over the week due to the impact of heavy snowfall in the Himalayan region.
