Jajpur, Nov 19:
Union minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers Srikant Jena ton Tuesday demanded a CBI probe into the death of Itishree Pradhan, the upper primary school teacher at Tikiri in Rayagada district, who was allegedly burnt to death for refusing to withdraw a molestation case against her senior, while blaming Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for the death.
Addressing a gathering of women at Duburi to commemorate 96th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, Jena said the Chief Minister cannot evade responsibility for the lady teacher’s death. Though the victim had named Patnaik in her statement as one among the four persons responsible for her plight, police is yet to take any action against him, he lamented.
The minister said the public outcry was not going to die down till all those involved in the heinous murder are put behind bars. The case should be investigated by a central agency like CBI as powerful figures are named in the case, he said.
