Classes begin at Odisha’s IIM-Sambalpur

After prolonged uncertainty, the much-awaited classes at the IIM Sambalpur began today at its temporary campus at Silicon Institute of Technology in the western Odisha town here.


Classes began sharp at 8.30 AM today. The first class was taken by Prof. Bijay Kumar Gupta of IIM Indore which was on Finance and Accounts.

The second class which started at 2 PM in the afternoon was taken by coordinator of IIM Sambalpur Prof Pawan Kumar Singh on Organizational Behaviour and Human Resources Development.

Both the professors have expressed satisfaction over the facilities available at the institute. Students too have expressed satisfaction over the temporary campus of the institute.

They expressed satisfaction over the accommodation and food facilities at the campus. However, students demanded for immediate provision of WiFi facilities at the temporary campus.

A total of 49 students attended classes at the temporary campus of IIM Sambalpur today out of whom 40 are boys and the remaining nine are girls.

The Institute was formally inaugurated on Wednesday and orientation programme for students was held.
