Chief Justice of India (CJI) P Sathasivam inaugurated the new six-storey building of the Odisha Judicial academy on the banks of the river Kathajodi here.
Justice C Nagappan, the Chief Justice of Orissa High Court, presided over the function. Justice Ananga Patnaik of the Supreme Court and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik were among the dignitaries who addressed the gathering on the occasion.
Built at a cost of Rs 10 crore, the building is equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure and facilities to provide top standard judicial education and training. The academy, which has played a key role in training of judicial officers and facilitating research in judicial education, was functioning from the old building of the Board of Revenue here since its inception on December 20, 2003.
A two-day-long seminar on ‘Enhancing Judicial productivity’ is being organised to mark the occasion.
Chief Justice Sathasivam arrived in the state capital yesterday on a two-day visit to the state.
