City police nabs three before crime

Commissionerate police on Friday arrested and forwarded to court three anti-socials here after the accused confessed to plotting a crime in the city late on Thursday night.

The accused, identified as Sudarshan Nayak of Madhusudan Nagar, Debashis Mallick of Shastri Nagar and Somnath Das of Nayapalli, were booked under section 147, 148, 294, 323, 332, 506, 149 of IPC and Sec 25 of the Arms Act.

Inspector-in-charge of Kharvel Nagar police station Nihar Ranjan Pradhan said during night patrolling, the Quick Rapid Action Team (QRAT), along with Kharvela police, intercepted a two wheeler on which three persons were riding near Akash Institute square road here on Thursday night. On being stopped, the accused started quarrelling with police. Later they were taken to the police custody for interrogation.

During the course of interrogation, the accused confessed that they were planning a crime in the city, the IIC said. “We have seized one bhujali, one axe and a motor-cycle from the possession of the accused,” Pradhan added.
