Bhubaneswar, Aug-8: The Commissionerate police today recovered the body of a land broker from Daruthenga on the outskirts of the city on Thursday.
The dead man has been identified as Kinshuk Baran Das (52), a land broker from Barikul in Jajpur district, who was residing at Niladri Vihar here since 2002, revealed inspector-in-charge (IIC), Chandaka Police Station, Gangadhar Dalai, who recovered the body after getting information from the locals this morning.
“No injury mark was found on the dead body. An insecticide bottle was found from the spot,” Dalai said.
Preliminary reports suggested it was a case of suicide. “The autopsy revealed that the man had vomited after consuming insecticides. This suggests that it could be a case of suicide. Residents of the area where he lived have said the man owed Rs 25 lakh to someone on a land deal and was great mental stress,” the IIC said adding family members of the dead had not filed any complaint in the police station till now.
Local says Das, who lived in Niladri Vihar with his wife and two children, called his daughter to Niladri Vihar square and took her Scooty. He told his daughter he would return after completing some work. Family members said his mobile phone was switched off after 8.30 pm.
