The ‘Citizen4Forces’, a body fighting for the rights of ex-Defence personnel will stage a day-long dharana on Monday, from 10 AM to 4 PM at the lower PMG square here to urge the Odisha government to review their order to give monetary relief in lieu of land to the landless jawans, a release issued by the organisation said today .
“We demand the revocation of the Gazette notification No-7390-Polls/2-04/2013-Poll passed by the State Government on the subject “Monetary grant in lieu of agricultural land to landless Jawans”, which is an absolute irresponsible and demoralizing govt decision that has shocked and surprised approximately 40,000 ex-servicemen who served our motherland,” Smrutiranjan Biswal, the national convener and Odisha state head of ‘Citizen 4 Forces’ said.
Biswal said ‘Citizen4Forces’has in its possession hard facts and documents on 56 tahsils out of 316 tahasils in the state, where 98299.589 acres of land are reserved as “Jawan Sarankhit Jameen” and the area of such reserved land will increase once the complete report is received.
The total area reserved for ex-service men in the state will be approximately 4 lakh acres, he said, adding, the govt officials are trying to fool them by saying there isn’t enough land.
