Chopper carrying Odisha DGP makes emergency landing

Khurda: The chopper carrying Odisha DGP RP Sharma made an emergency landing due to inclement weather while on his return from Kandhamal.

Gusty wind accompanied by intermittent showers made the job of the pilot difficult prompting him to go for emergency landing.

The Pawan Hans helicopter (VT-PWG) made an emergency landing at Gopabandhu High School ground in Begunia.

The top cop had a close shave as none was hurt in the incident.

Sharma took the road way to reach Bhubaneswar.

Regional Meteorological office had forecast lightning and thundershowers at eight districts, including Khurda.

Sharma was on a visit to Baliguda in Kandhamal district where he met the SOG jawans who were a part of the anti-Maoist operation.

Notably, a woman ultra was killed and two jawans were injured during the operation at a forest near Barkhama under Baliguda police station in the district.
