Showing hope to the chitfund victims, Odisha government has formed a three-member team to identify genuine investors to refund their deposits.
The chitfund depositors identification process will be completed by June end, informed Odisha Finance Secretary Tuhinkant Pandey.
“The field verification is underway to identify the depositors. Two types of claims have been received about the deposits. While around 3.93 lakh victims of Rose Valley chitfund firm have claimed to have deposited in the company, the report submitted by Justice MM Das Commission of Inquiry shows that around 12,179 small investors were the victims”, Pandey told reporters.
“A three-member team has visited the spot to verify the claims. The verification processes will be made through the videography and CCTV to bring transparency”, he added.
“The SPs and district collectors were asked to verify the claims sent to them about chitfund depositors. The three-member team comprising of the RI, Amin and Panchayatiraj staff will verify the claim. After verification, further course of action will be decided to refund the amount”, told Odisha Chief Secretary AP Padhi to media persons after chairing a review meeting with SPs and collectors through video conferencing here today.
