Cuttack, Dec 9:

The Orissa High Court today granted conditional bail to former president of youth congress’ state unit Rajat Choudhury, who is accused in the Artha Tatwa (AT) Group chit fund scam.

Choudhury was granted bail against a deposit of Rs 1.5 crore and furnishing of two bail bonds of Rs one lakh.

Laying down the conditions of the bail, the court asked him to cooperate in the investigation process and not to try to influence witnesses in the case.

Notably, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which is probing into the chit fund scam, had arrested Choudhury on July 4 this year for his alleged complicity in the AT Group scam.

Choudhury came under the scanner of the agency in 2014 for a land deal of Rs 94 lakh. One Mitu Mohanty had allegedly obtained a plot of land from AT Group worth Rs 94.77 lakh. Mitu had allegedly taken possession of the plot without paying any money to AT Group. Rajat Choudhury had acted as a mediator in the transaction.
